I raise my flag for
freedom
the colours
brown
and black
and white
The flag I fly
is never folded
and put away
for safe keeping
away from
light
or air
It’s not raised
or lowered
for war,
or death
or loss.
My flag does not
call for lives
to be shed
in its honour
Its love
is not dependent
on you
expressing yours
first
The flag
I fly
moves its legs
and carries me
It has texture
warmth
a heartbeat
It sounds on
the earth
as it moves
And it says
my body
is your body
and my breath
is your breath,
and this landscape,
it holds us
and together
we are enough.
